This week, Sveltana Torres and Lana Parker from Raymond James investments came to speak to Martha Reeves' GSF 221 course.
Torres and Parker spoke to students about their careers in financial services, focusing on areas such as equity, research, and investment analytics.
Svetlana Torres is the Vice President of Investment Banking at Raymond James. She joined Raymond James Investment Banking in 2000 and has since served in Various roles within the department. In her current role as Vice President, she oversees the Associate, Analyst and Intern training, recruiting and mentorship programs. In addition, she supports senior management in various strategic and growth initiatives. Ms. Torres initially joined Raymond James as an analyst in the investment banking department, working with middle market clients on merger, acquisition, divestiture, and recapitalization transactions across a variety of industry groups. Ms. Torres graduated from Duke University with a BA in Political Science (International Relations) and Economics and a Markets & Management Certificate.
Lana Parker is the Recruitment and Pipeline Lead for the Equity Research department and has been with Raymond James since 2013. Prior to assuming her current role in 2015, she served as a Research Administrator assisting with research coverage of the airlines sector. Ms. Parker now coordinates all aspects of professional recruiting for one of the largest equity research teams in the U.S., including on campus recruiting, managing special programs, leading recruiting-focused marketing efforts, and coordinating new associate training and professional development opportunities. Prior to joining Raymond James, she served as the Internship and Co-op program coordinator for St. Petersberg College. Ms. Parker earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the Florida State University and her Master of Arts in Adult, Career, and Technical Education from the University of South Florida.
