Advising, Class Visits, and Workshops

Markets and Management has had an eventful couple of weeks!

Professor Martha Reeves recently hosted 3 entrepreneurs to her Women at Work course, GSF 221. The guest speakers spoke to the class about various issues facing women entrepreneurs, including raising capital, finding the right management style, and the pros and cons of an MBA. Day one of Capstone Advising brought over 100 students to our office and ended with all the capstones filled for the fall! Thank you to all of our students who patiently waited in line early Friday morning for advising. If you are a senior wjho didn't come in advising, you will need to do so in the spring to take a capstone then.

Our own MMS Professor Martha Reeves took part in a recent workshop on Negotiation Skills for the Baldwin Scholars at Duke. Some of the topics discussed were:

     - how to negotiate work tasks

     - how to negotiate your first salary offer identifying

     - and communicating your worth to the organization
