On Saturday, May 10, Markets & Management Studies celebrated the graduating class of 2025. Graduates and their families were invited to join MMS faculty and staff for a reception and certificate pickup in the Bryan Center Landing.
The Markets & Management Certificate program provides an innovative, liberal arts approach to business education. It draws on knowledge from a variety of disciplines including sociology, economics, political science, history and business. This year, over 80 students received certificates in MMS.
Congratulations to all our graduates!
The Markets & Management program has enabled me to apply practical lessons first-hand in professional settings, such as in my internships at G2 and BMW Bank.
Thanks to the MMS certificate, I've been able to explore my academic interests and increase my knowledge of business operations / strategy work.
This year also marks the final commencement with Martha Reeves as director of MMS. Nearly 25 years after joining Duke, Reeves will be retiring at the end of the 2024-25 academic year from her position as director of MMS, professor of the practice of sociology and faculty adviser for BOW.
“I saw [Reeves] more as a friend than as a professor that I couldn’t talk to,” said sophomore and Duke in Geneva alum Rylee Lent to the Duke Chronicle in a recent profile of Reeves, “I always knew that I could ask her for advice after class and talk to her at any time.”
In addition to her role as director of MMS, Reeves has mentored hundreds of students through her popular courses and the Duke in Geneva program she runs annually. Students and faculty celebrated Reeves at the ceremony with gifts and a tribute to her service to Duke.
