In Case You Missed It: Highlights from Social Media Conference

In case you missed our social media conference, here are a few highlights:

Gabrielle Delva and Nikki Jenkins were our keynote speakers from Google. They spoke to students about How Social Media Comes to Life: A 360 View. They then joined students for workshops later in the day to discuss the what, how, and why of influencer marketing and how brands invest in understanding their consumers to ensure they are authentic to their brand and relevant to their audiences.

Students then listened to a Lunch and Learn panel of guest students and alumni who work or have interned in Social Media positions. Our panel was able to give students practical tips they have learned from working in social media. Our guest panel included: Kara Penn, Media Strategy Intern at McKinney and President of Duke Marketing Club; Zoe Bakker, Growth Marketing Manager at Adwerx; Mary Kate Weggeland, Director of Marketing for Nsher MUSE, and Anya Bali, Editor-in-Chief of DukeStudents.

Panelists Mary Kate Weggeland and Zoe Bakker are seen here with conference Organizer Deb Reisinger during the Lunch and Learn.

For the latter half of the conference, students were able to choose from 5 workshops to attend featuring local and national business leaders.
