Authentic Leadership is focused on the exploration of the attributes of leadership and why some leaders fail and other succeed. The course will also help students understand the core values they possess which will bring success to organizations throughout their lives. Each student will develop a personal perspective on leadership, learn from examples of success and failure, look at the ethical challenges facing leaders today, learn the tools leaders use to support successful cultures, enhance self-awareness, and prepare to become successful leaders.
In spring of 2019, students experienced the addition of a multimedia case on Burt's Bees which included a class visit from their Director of Sustainability in Durham and call-in participation from the founder of the company, Roxanne Quimby. This year, Professor Eacho intends to add similar elements to the course including guest speakers working in relevant business and leadership roles.
This class is primarily for students who are seniors or juniors as it will be helpful for those entering the workforce soon.
