The experience I have had so far pursuing the Markets & Management Studies certificate has been nothing short of fulfilling. As a junior, I have been able to take several courses aiding in my future completion of the MMS certificate, all of which have been amazing! While I believe I have learned a lot about leadership in the workplace and managing organizations, there is a great deal that Duke offers that I have yet to explore. There are classes I still have the possibility of taking and students and professors I still have the chance to collaborate with. I am excited to increase my exposure to all Duke has to offer during my last year and a half.
One of the courses I took that I credit a good deal of my knowledge to Sociology 355 Organizations and Management. This course stressed the impact of changing social and technological environments on the evolution of organizational structures and strategies. What I particularly enjoyed about this class was that it related these issues to business ethics. We read material about the structure and operation of organizations and how they are managed through analyzing decision making and actively discussing the concepts and analytical tools organizations used.
Although this class focuses heavily on the marketing aspect, the MMS program offers a wide variety of classes fitting interests of general business, economics, law, policy, marketing, finance, and banking and more.
